Overview
Megablocks are DIN rail mounted passive hubs for Foundation Fieldbus™ H1 networks. Also called “bricks” or “couplers”, Megablocks connect several field devices to the network trunk cable and provide spur short circuit (SpurGuard™) protection to the segment.
Ease of use
Megablocks minimize hand wiring and allow individual devices to be added to and removed from the segment without disrupting network communication. A green power LED on each unit indicates whether at least 9V of DC power is present. A short circuit on a spur is indicated by a red LED adjacent to the spur connector.
Key features
Multiple Megablocks are easily wired to one another to support future expansion and allow larger segments to be constructed. Megablocks are available in 4, 8, 10, and 12 drop versions and built-in fixed or switchable terminators are also available. Megablocks have been designed for low power consumption leaving more power available for Fieldbus devices. Pluggable connectors can be easily removed during commissioning to disconnect field devices from the fieldbus network and then fixed with retaining screws for long term reliable connections.
Reliability
Megablocks have been specifically designed for high reliability and long term operation by selecting quality components and optimizing circuitry. Simple passive components are used for the internal Terminator (on select models). Short circuit protection is implemented using a current limiter at a fixed value - simpler and more reliable than output current reduction methods.
Increased Safety (Ex e) Applications
F244-XE - F273-XE Megablocks are designed and certified for Increased Safety (Zone 1) applications. For use with the following simplex or redundant Fieldbus Power Supplies: F10x, F6xx, F8xx, or FPS series.

Megablocks are available pre-assembled in a wide variety of enclosures, reducing procurement and installation time.
