The 5081-A-FF Device Revision 3 is the latest version of the 5081 series
of Fieldbus amperometric transmitters, tested to ITK 6 requirements.
The 5081A measures dissolved oxygen in the range of 0 to 20 ppm or 0 to
270 % saturations with a resolution of 0.01 ppm, or 0.1 ppb when used
with the 400TRDO trace oxygen sensor. The 5081A can also measure total
chlorine or free chlorine in the range of 0 to 20 ppm with a resolution
of 0.001 ppm. A pH sensor can be used with 5081A, in addition to the
free chlorine sensor, to provide pH corrected free chlorine
measurements. Finally, the 5081A can be configured to measure ozone in
the range of 0 to 10 ppm with a resolution of 0.001 ppm.
A comprehensive set of sensor, transmitter, and calibration diagnostics
is provided, available to the bus via Field Diagnostics. The Common
Software Download Specification allows software upgrades to be downloaded
to the transmitter, while it is in service. As has always been the case
with our transmitters, the 5081A is provided with a Link Active Scheduler.
3 AI Function Blocks are provided for PV, temperature, and amperometric
sensor current. In the case of the free chlorine measurement using a pH
sensor input, a fourth AI Block is provided to publish the pH
measurement. A PID Analog Control Function Block is also provided to
allow the transmitter to participate in applications requiring control in
The 5081A display is a two-line LCD; first line shows process variable
(oxygen, chlorine or ozone concentration) with the second line showing
process temperature. Fault and warning messages, when triggered
alternate with temperature and output readings. During calibration and
programming, messages and prompts appear in the second line. The display
board can be rotated 90 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. The
display is accessed using an infrared remote controller, allowing the
transmitter to remain sealed during calibration and configuration.
The housing is cast aluminum with epoxy coating. NEMA 4X
(IP65) and NEMA 7B, with Neoprene O-ring cover seals.
